Inspiring Joy Through the Brilliance of Nature

The tranquility of nature brought indoors is at once inviting and invigorating. Hallmarks of this style include minimalist elements, natural materials, and realistic florals. United with Emily June Designs’ signature use of whimsical ephemera, this bedroom was transformed into a soothing botanical oasis.

Imaginative Bedroom Design

The bedroom is one of those spaces that are easily overlooked during interior design projects. Where the bedroom is not overlooked, it is only given cursory attention in the course of an interior design project.

At Emily June Designs we are of the view that that is not how things should be. After all, isn’t the bedroom one of the spaces where we end up spending considerable amounts of our time? Up to a third of our time or even more? Don’t some of us actually end up spending more time [cumulatively] in our bedrooms that we spend in our living rooms? Given those facts, doesn’t the bedroom deserve a great deal of attention in the course of interior design?

Bedroom interior design objectives

People usually style the other rooms with the objective of making them impressive. But the bedroom is unique in the sense that it is not a room that your (ordinary) guests are likely to venture into. This is indeed why many folks don’t see the need for putting a lot of effort into bedroom interior design. After all, they ask themselves, why put much effort in styling a room that only they (and perhaps their significant others) ever venture into? Why put much effort in styling a room that is not of much use when it comes to impressing your guests?

But it is important to understand that interior design is not just about impressing others. It is also about impressing yourself. It is also about creating a lovely living space for yourself. Thus in styling your bedroom, the objective may be to make it serene, and hence well-suited for its primary role (of sleep). Or it may be to simply make it more beautiful and hence a lovely space to spend your relaxation hours in. The imaginative interior design style can be very useful at achieving those sorts of objectives.

Why imaginative design makes sense in the bedroom

Of all interior design styles, the imaginative style is the one that is least-bound by rules. In imaginative design, you simply do what feels right. And if there was ever a space where you can use such a style -- without fear of judgment or ridicule -- then that would have to be in the bedroom. The most private of all spaces in your home.

This means that the bedroom offers you a space to implement design ideas that you would otherwise be too timid to use in other spaces. It is a space where you can allow your imagination to go wild. In fact, it is a space where you should allow your imagination to go wild.

You are the best suited person to tell what makes you relax. You just need to figure it out, and implement it under the imaginative design context, to achieve the best possible look and feel in your bedroom.

How we can help you with imaginative bedroom design

We start by developing the best layout for your bedroom. The objective is to make the bedroom feel spacious: whether or not it is actually big. Bigness and spaciousness are different things. We help you achieve a spacious feel in your bedroom, which is the foundation on which the rest of imaginative bedroom design elements lie. Relying on our skills and experience, we can advise you on simple things you need to get done, in order to make even the smallest/crampiest of bedrooms feel reasonably spacious.

We then proceed to find the best colors for your bedroom. We walk with you through the imaginative journey, as we and you figure out what the most ideal colors to attain the look and feel you want for your bedroom are. We then help you in actually acquiring those colors and implementing them, to get the desired look and feel in your bedroom. Again, relying on our expertise and experience, we can help you in making the best color choices for your bedroom. And this is important because the wrong choice of color could easily result in an over-stimulating bedroom space that is not suitable for sleep and relaxation.

Beyond that, we help you in finding just the right level of brightness for your bedroom. We then help you in actually achieving that level of brightness and developing mechanisms for regulating bedroom brightness.

We go further. We help you in getting the accessories you need to make your bedroom a serene and relaxing space. We can aid you in choosing the best curtains and carpets and lightings for use in your bedroom. Then, drawing on imagination, we help you deploy those elements in a manner that makes the bedroom a relaxing (rather than over-stimulating) space, for optimal rest.

We can further help you – under the imaginative bedroom design context -- with things like light floral/botanical decorations, to give your bedroom a ‘natural’ aura. And to make it as relaxing and sleep-conducive as possible. Here, you are only limited by your imagination.
