Celebrating the Season with Emily June Designs!
As the holiday season fills the air with warmth and joy, we at Emily June Designs extend our heartfelt wishes to you and yours. As we reflect on the vibrant tapestry of 2023, it's been a year filled with creativity, innovation, and, of course, the signature use of color and pattern that defines our studio. Join us in this festive journey as we unwrap and share some of the highlights from this past year!
Reminiscing About the Dollhouse
In May, our design journey took a heartfelt turn as we dove into the La Petite Maison Dollhouse Auction, a unique opportunity to support A Shelter for Cancer Families. Much like our approach to designing full-scale homes, we welcomed a dollhouse delivery to the office, igniting the meticulous process of bringing our vision to life. Fueled by our love for color and pattern, we set out to make this miniature creation a distinctive reflection of our style.
Embracing the same blend of old and new elements that define our full-scale projects, we embarked on a quest for antique dollhouse treasures, scouring antique shops for pieces that would infuse character and charm into our miniature masterpiece. After weeks of dedicated work, the dollhouse quickly came together, and the night of the gala finally arrived. It was a celebration, a culmination of all the hard work put in by my team and me—all for the benefit of an extraordinary cause.
EJD takes NYC
This past June, the heartbeat of design led us to the vibrant streets of New York City. A highlight of our trip was the Kips Bay Decorator Show House, an annual event that transforms a luxury Manhattan home into a breathtaking display of top-tier design talent. The show house, a philanthropic initiative supporting the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, serves not only as a showcase for the latest trends but also as a platform for designers to push the boundaries of creativity. Armed with tickets to explore this design haven, our team immersed themselves in a symphony of colors, patterns, and innovative concepts. Beyond the show house, our New York escapade included a stylish stay at the Ludlow Hotel, a night filled with laughter and music as we watched "Funny Girl" featuring Lea Michele, and cultural explorations at the MET and MOMA. Each experience, whether within the walls of the decorator show house or beneath the city lights, added layers to our design narrative, inspiring us to bring a touch of the city's sophistication into our projects. Join us as we recount the chapters of our design journey written amidst the skyscrapers and art galleries of the Big Apple.
In September, our team embarked on our second trip to New York, and this time, it was all about design inspiration and exciting opportunities. Emily received an invitation to serve as an ambassador for "What's New, What's Next." As an ambassador, Emily sought out elements that resonated with her unique style, and she eagerly shared these discoveries. The event, hosted at the New York Design Center (NYDC), provided an enriching experience surrounded by a multitude of talented designers. To our delight, we also crossed paths with some familiar faces from Houston, adding an unexpected surprise in the bustling city. The NYDC introduced us to a different wellspring of inspiration, showcasing not only what's available to trade professionals but also offering a glimpse into what awaits our future clients. Amidst the exploration of showrooms, we couldn't resist the allure of Broadway and found ourselves enjoying "Merrily We Roll Along," with none other than Daniel Radcliffe captivating us from center stage. Because, after all, a trip to New York wouldn't be complete without immersing ourselves in the magic of a Broadway show!
One more thing before we go
This year has been a whirlwind of joy and achievements for our team, and I'm incredibly grateful for the big and small milestones we've accomplished together. None of it would be possible without the unwavering support of our clients, who entrusted us with bringing their visions to life. We take pride in being client-centric, weaving their unique personalities into the fabric of their homes with our love for color and pattern.
There's a special kind of satisfaction in making that call to our photographer and saying, "We've got a finished project ready for its close-up." We're thrilled to offer a sneak peek into some of the projects we've had the privilege of completing this year. Witnessing a project come together is truly rewarding, a testament to the collaborative spirit that defines our design process. As we reflect on the year, we're grateful for the opportunity to not only meet but exceed our clients' expectations.
Here's to the beautiful transformations and exciting projects that lie ahead in the coming year!
