emily june’s christmas favorites

Christmas is only 15 days away and I wanted to share all of my favorite things about this season with you! From my favorite Christmas movies to how I decorate my home for the holidays, this blog post covers it all.

all time christmas favorites:

There is nothing quite like cozying up and watching your favorite Christmas movies with your family! My favorite movie to watch to get into the holiday spirit is White Christmas because you can’t go wrong with such a classic movie. I love spending time with family and getting to share some of my favorite traditions with my 5 year old son whose favorite Christmas movie is Nightmare Before Christmas… way different vibe than my favorite but still a good one!

Everyone has their most memorable Christmas gift from their childhood whether it be a thoughtful gift from a family member or the coolest toy that was on the wishlist for years! My most memorable Christmas gift as a child is definitely the dollhouse that I was gifted at age three. But it wasn’t just any dollhouse; my grandfather built it especially for me and my grandmother designed each individual room from the drapes to the rugs! I still have this dollhouse because it is so special to me and receiving a gift that thoughtful is a once in a lifetime experience.

some of my favorite holiday traditions:

Everyone has their favorite holiday traditions and while they may look different for every family, there are some Christmas traditions that are just classics! One of my favorite ways to get into the holiday spirit is to drive around and look at Christmas lights, and you can’t go wrong with stopping for a hot chocolate along the way! I also love getting together with some of my closest friends to make Christmas cookies or decorate a gingerbread house.

This week we competed in a gingerbread house decorating contest and it was such a fun way to get into the holiday spirit! Luxe Magazine invited us to this event hosted by Cabinet Innovations, and we were a part of the best team: Newberry Architecture, Stetzer Builders + Cabinet Innovations!

christmas decor

Keep scrolling as I walk you through some of my favorite ways to decorate my home for Christmas!

mix it up

Add a dash of holiday decor into your existing decor! Spaces in your home such as coffee tables and bookshelves that are already accessorized with your favorite things can easily become festive by adding in just one seasonal element. My formal living room coffee table needed a bit of holiday cheer, so I added these fun little Christmas books into the mix!

incorporate vintage

Vintage Christmas decor is arguably the most timeless and meaningful way to decorate for the holidays. This adorable little figure was my grandmother’s and I placed it among some of my favorite accessories on one of my accent tables! From family heirlooms to recent vintage finds, incorporating pieces like this adds a bit more character to the holidays!

oh christmas tree

One of my favorite parts of the holidays is seeing how different people decorate their Christmas trees! Whether its a real tree or a fake tree, themed ornaments or a mash-up of ornaments, everyone has their own way of decorating during the holiday season.

My favorite way to decorate my tree is with antique ornaments, ornaments that have been passed through my family, and ornaments with special meanings. Mixing up my tree with different ornaments creates an eclectic look that is on brand with the rest of my home!

elf on the shelf

What’s Christmas time without fun traditions? Christmas decor isn’t quite complete without an Elf on the Shelf! Little traditions like this are part of what makes the holidays so magical!
