a touch of traditional

From antiques to wallpaper, we love including traditional elements within our designs! In this blog post, we showcase some ways to include traditional elements within all different types of design styles to create a timeless look within any space. Keep reading to check it out!

powder room perfection

This powder bath design we did is a perfect example of how traditional designs can be colorful and fun! First, using a traditional wallpaper can be a way of making your space a little more personal if you find one that speaks to your style. This can be done in any space, even a small space like the powder bathroom pictured here! Arches are another thing that is typically associated with more traditional designs. This can be done in almost any space with architectural elements like doorways or windows. The arch in this space really highlights the vanity and makes it the focal point of the room!

Going along with the overall traditional vibe of this space, we used more traditional accessories including the wall sconces, mirror, and artwork. The mirror is the true focal point of this whole space, and the traditional shape really ties the whole design together!

molding magic

The majority of the furniture and other elements within this space are modern, but many existing spaces have traditional moldings like the ones pictures here. Many times, moldings can intrinsically become a piece of artwork within a space! If you want to emphasize the moldings within your own home, you can paint them a different color or leave the wall a single color like this designer did here.

Another extremely traditional element within this design is the detailing on the ceiling. Many times, homes that have moldings on the wall might also have some sort of molding on the ceiling! This can include some simple molding elements or a full-scale mural, and these elements are timeless and have a story of their own! You can use these unique elements to compliment any style and use it as a starting point for your own designs, no matter what your style is!

aesthetic artwork

Gallery walls are another way of adding a traditional touch to your space, regardless of your design style or taste in art! Gallery walls were used beginning in the 1600’s in salons, which were places that would routinely display the newest and most popular pieces of artwork at the time. The fun thing about this way of decorating a wall is that you can use any style of artwork! From traditional pieces, to pop art, to modern styles or a combination of different styles; mixing different art into a gallery wall adds so much interest to a space. This design includes all sorts of different types of art that still create harmony within this space. Additionally, the framing of these pieces are all different and suit each art piece individually! Always try to match the frame to the feeling the piece of artwork gives you!

The furniture used within this space is also modern and simple combined with some traditional elements like the gallery wall, rug, and vintage lamp. Vintage lamps are something we love to include within our own designs to give more character to any space!
