West University Project Reveal

The Emily June Designs team wrapped up 2024 on a high note with an exciting photoshoot of our latest project in Houston’s West University neighborhood. We are thrilled to unveil the stunning results today! This historic home, brimming with character and charm, now boasts a signature EJD transformation. These photos are just a glimpse—be sure to follow along on Instagram in the coming weeks for even more exclusive glimpses of this beautiful space!

Entry

The goal for the design of the entry was to incorporate the clients style by giving visitors a sneak peek of whats to come for the rest of the spaces. This approach creates a seamless transition and sets the tone for the entire home. Upon entering the home you can find unexpected elements that draws your eyes up to the ceiling. The custom, hand painted, Porter Teleo wallpaper on the ceiling creates the perfect backdrop for this beautiful green flush mount. This antique red rug grounds the space and ties in with the colors incorporated in the dining room. Up the stairs the clients have a curated wall of family photos, and printing them in black and white really helped to create a cohesive look and coordinate with the traditional vibe of the home.

sitting room

The sitting room sits right off the entry. At the front of the room is a grand piano that the talented family uses to fill the home with music during their gatherings. By creating a modern and colorful flair we upholstered their existing antique furniture pieces with lustrous fabrics. This room is filled with existing heirloom family antiques, which creates a warm and inviting space. We also added custom drapes and pops of red accessories to balance everything and add contrast. This is such a warm and inviting spot to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee with friends or read a good book!

Dining Room

The dining room needed more storage, so we designed custom built-in painted in a high gloss paint and lined with a green grasscloth wallpaper. We also added custom drapery with Jiun Ho fabric which adds a layer of sophistication. The deep red ceiling mirrors the dark wood floors well and highlights the design elements around the room. Displayed grandly in the middle is the the intricate chandelier and the unlacquered brass hardware throughout the room is like jewelry for the space!

family room

The family room underwent a stunning transformation, expanding from a small living room and patio into a spacious, light-filled area that now includes a dining space, bar, and a desk for work. Collaborating with CAM Construction, we created an inviting room with ample seating, perfect for this family’s love of entertaining. We incorporated their meaningful accessories into the design and enhanced natural light with a wall of windows, light paint, wallpaper, and upholstery. This versatile space is now the ultimate spot for hosting, dining, and relaxing!
