a place for everything

Did your parents ever cheerily quip “a place for everything, and everything in its place” at you when the time came to tidy up your room? As annoying as their reminder was then, it’s an idiom that continues to stand the test of time today!

Staying organized helps create a relaxing home environment that can actually boost your mood! As an interior designer, my goal is to create spaces that are both beautiful and functional. Client details like family size, favorite hobbies, and decorating styles are all considerations that go into planning out a design! For example, a client that’s a large family with small children has much different organizational needs than a retired client who’s leaning into the minimalist trend. Finding a way to meet each client where they are, with their design preferences in mind, is a challenge I love undertaking!

Are you experiencing any organizational challenges in your living spaces? Keep reading for some inspiration on how to find a place for everything throughout your home, followed by some chic, curated pieces that are sure to make getting organized a little easier!

helpful heights

This kitchen captures such a smart way to pack an organizational punch while maintaining a sense of openness! Notice how storage is taken upwards with tall, narrow cabinets, and even includes a stealthy shelf that’s almost ceiling height. Rather than bulky cabinets taking over, the gorgeous hardwood floor shines instead. Brava!

stairway to storage

Don’t skip out on a storage opportunity under your staircase! This clever cut-out provides the perfect kid-accessible place to store backpacks, shoes, and other items that always seem to find a way to clutter up the floor. Interested in a grown-up twist? Try installing a hanging rod for an open coat closet and swapping out the shoes for posh fabric storage boxes.

buffet bluff

This gorgeous custom buffet provides more than just looks! I love how this buffet was divided into drawers rather than one single large space with shelves, ensuring its contents stay organized. Its prime location by the dining table and ample size make it perfect for storing table linens, heirloom silver, and even board games for some after-dinner fun!
