built-in brilliance

This week we are showing off some of our favorite designs that feature built-ins! With custom built-ins, almost anything is possible. From bookshelves to desks and bunkbeds, built-ins can save space and add functionality to a design. Keep reading to see some built-ins from one of our latest projects along with some other inspiring designs!

bookcase beauty

These built-ins in our client’s living room really elevate the space and create a great place to display vintage books, accessories from travels, and art! We continued the fireplace marble to the shelf of the bookcase which makes the design look cohesive, and we lined the back wall of the shelves with a Phillip Jeffries grasscloth wallpaper to bring in more texture. The movement in the marble mixed with the satin finish of the paint and the small scale texture of the wallpaper creates the perfect balance of textures in this area of the room!

We love when our clients have large bookshelves because it gives us an opportunity to make the space shine with a lot of accessories! We went on the hunt for vintage books to fill the shelves, along with a combination of different accessories that we found on our trip to Round Top.

library luxury

If you’re an avid book reader and collector this just might be the built-in for you! Built-ins are known for displaying books and this cozy corner is a perfect example. Open shelving is an ideal way to present an impressive book collection and in this design, the books are separated by different art pieces to give this dark bookcase an uncluttered feeling! Stacking some of the books horizontally also gives this dark-toned bookcase some variety and dynamism.

At the top of the bookshelf are lights that are perfect for highlighting the books displayed, and below the open shelving is extra cabinet storage space that provides a way of storing things more privately within the library. This design is the perfect combination of sophisticated style and functionality!

window seat serenity

While built-ins are typically used for storage and bookcases, you can also use them to frame windows! This design is the perfect combination of creating extra storage space and a cozy environment. The lighting above this comfortable nook really gives this seating area a welcoming touch. Whether you need a small rest, time to snuggle up with a book, or want some time in the sunlight, this is the ideal space for you! If you have a recessed corner in your home or a hall that seems empty, this choice of a built-in may be just what you are looking for.

china cabinet charm

This built-in makes a statement of its own with its bright red palette and gold hardware against the white walls. If you feel your home is lacking some color, this might be the answer to your design problems! With the shallow depth, the attention-drawing design, and the glass front doors, this is a great choice for displaying fine china, antiques, and art pieces!

playroom perfection

This children’s room is the perfect amount of storage and fun! Utilizing space with younger children is important as they need space to let their imaginations run wild. This design incorporates a built-in that allows a space for toys to be stored and creates a seating area for rest, reading or watching a movie. If you find that your child’s room is cluttered, this built-in is great to draw inspiration from!

bunkbed bliss

Making the most of space is key when you have a large family. This built-in creates enough space for four children with small nooks for anything a child might want to display! This gives the child a way to make it their own unique space. The brass wall-mounted sconces give the option to illuminate each individual space that the overhead lighting may not reach. These built-ins also include drawers that grant extra space for clothing in the case of a shared closet space. This built-in is all we could ask for in a shared children’s room!

office opulence

If you are having trouble finding space for an office area, this built-in is the perfect solution! This built-in offers lots of space for books, art, and anything else you may want in your office space. The recessed lighting integrated into the open shelving makes it the perfect place for displaying accessories. The drawers and overhead cabinetry also give this space the option of private storage, and the detailing really elevates the space!

This type of built-in can be used anywhere in the house! If you have an office that’s small, some extra wall space in a family room, or even a closet can all be made into an office area … go for it!
