client chats: working with emily june!
In today’s journal entry, we’re talking about what it’s like to be a client of Emily June! We understand that working with an interior designer can be intimidating – after all, you’re working on one of the most special spaces in your life: your home. Our homes provide the stage for so many of our memories, offer a relaxing sanctuary from the hectic world outside, and at their most simple, act as a physical representation of our interests, experiences, and goals.
Today, our goal is to brush away those nerves by sitting down for a chat with a few former clients to discuss their experience with Emily and the team! You’ll learn about their projects, why they sought out an interior designer, and why they selected Emily June Designs!
first things first
Modern. Vibrant. Eclectic. Art-oriented. Non-traditional. These are a few words that the clients we’re talking to today (hi, Leslie, Bea, and Luis!) used to describe their personal style! Which words come to mind when you consider your own style? What kind of overall aesthetics catch your eye?
Now, consider the project you have in mind – maybe you’re finally ready to redo that cramped kitchen. Are you feeling overwhelmed with all the options out there? Unsure of how to get started? These are issues that often drive clients to enlist the help of an interior designer!
Whether you’ve never used an interior designer before, or are interested in seeing how the Emily June Designs team does things a little differently than other firms, we’re here for you!
how did you decide that you needed an interior designer for your project?
“The scope of my project was way beyond my skillset. I needed new and refinished oak hardwood floors, new bedroom furniture, updated bathroom counters, wallpaper, and more!” – Leslie
know thyself
If those client answers struck a chord with you, then perhaps it’s time for you to onboard an interior designer to your project! While we do happen to know a great one, we recognize every client has different needs! Both of our clients did the hard work of narrowing down what they were looking for when they began their interior designer search.
Bea and Luis wanted to have a timeless design that was “functional, beautiful, and stylish.” They were hoping to find a designer that didn’t just present their own ideas, but also “listened to our vision for the space and worked within our budget!” Leslie decided to find “a designer that could provide contractors and project management.” Listening to clients, providing a full range of design services, and delivering designs that meet both form and function are some of the main tenants we uphold at Emily June Designs!
As I spoke with our clients, another common thread stuck out to me – both of these clients initially hired the EJD team for one or two projects. Eventually, these became three or four, or even the whole home! The power of being surrounded by a space that represents you perfectly is so underestimated. When it’s there, you really take notice – and clients understandably want that feeling of belonging to radiate throughout their homes! It’s always our priority to ensure those moments happen for each client – whether that happens for one room or all of them – as we transform these everyday spaces into something truly special!
How did working with EMily align with your own ideas?
“Although I had the help of a very professional designer and her team, I feel
that the end result perfectly represents my taste.” – Leslie
taking the leap
We know there's a particular moment for a client hiring an interior designer where you have to take a leap of faith. At Emily June Designs, we recognize that each client puts their ultimate trust in us to make their dreams come true! But for our clients, they both expressed feeling certainty that they had found just what they were looking for in an interior designer. For example, Bea and Luis recalled that after their first meeting with Emily, “We knew she was the right fit for us! She listened carefully to our wish list and made us feel very comfortable with the scope of our project and her ideas.” Y’all are making us blush!
We pride ourselves on creating real relationships with clients, truly getting to know them and their needs before starting any of our design work. We don’t follow a copy-and-paste template that results in the same design, regardless of the client or their space. Instead, we focus on what the client has in mind, and how we can help them achieve it!
What was memorable about working with the EJD team?
“The team's creativity, attention to detail, and their friendliness and positive attitude!” – Bea and Luis“
teamwork makes the dream work!
As we mentioned above, we take a collaborative approach to working with our clients! Leslie remembers that the Emily June Designs team “patiently answered my questions, provided all the sketches and samples I need to understand the final design, and provided weekly progress reports. Her team is a great reflection of Emily’s commitment to her clients.” Thank you, Leslie! We certainly try to make clients as comfortable as possible and are here to serve you! Collaboration is all about communication, so we like to have the client as involved with selections and check-ins as often as they wish. That often looks like studio visits, feeling fabric and paper samples, or even coming in to test out different foam densities for a new sofa!
Why did you enjoy working with Emily?
“Emily’s sense of humor, her patience with my indecisiveness and the way she was able guide me through the process, introducing great design elements that would never have crossed my mind!” - LEslie
