design inspiration: children's edition

Designing spaces for children is fun but the process can often present unique challenges! When designing any space, it is important to get inside the client’s mind and really imagine how they are going to use their space in order to create the design that works best for them. This process isn’t any different when designing a kid’s room, but it can be slightly more challenging to think like a child and create the perfect space for them! Because of this, it is fun to look at different children’s spaces and see how the designers create rooms that are so unique.

create a cozy nook

This children’s room is perfect for the kid who loves to read! A cozy little nook is such a great addition a kid’s room because it gives them a space to read or play in their own little space. The vintage Eero Saarinen chair adds some sophistication to this room and is the ideal storytime spot next to the built-in bookshelves!

mix the old with the new

This design proves that mixing the old and the new makes for a fun and dynamic space! The vintage dresser next to the custom upholstered bed creates the perfect balance, and that artwork adds such a conversation piece to the room. This design proves that a child’s room can be both playful and sophisticated at the same time!

make a statement

A monochromatic room is always an interesting way to make a statement! Blue is the perfect color choice for a bedroom because of the calming effect that the color has. Also, the art on the wall was painted by this client’s child … how fun is that! Adding your child’s artwork to their room is a great way to add their own personal touch to a space that is going to mean so much to them.

add playful artwork

It is rare that we see a fireplace in a child’s bedroom, but it is gorgeous in this design and also serves as a toy shelf! The playful artwork is perfect for this room, and the floor pillows around the table is the perfect seating solution for kids that just want to play.

make it colorful

The Hermes wallpaper in this bedroom design is such a showstopper, but also perfect for a kid’s room because of its colorful and whimsical nature. At Emily June Designs we love colorful interiors for people of any age, but for kids especially!

give them space to play

When designing a kid’s bedroom you have to keep in mind that they won’t just be sleeping and relaxing in there, but they will also be playing and creating memories. Because of this, leaving plenty of space for them to build a train track, do a puzzle, or dump out a whole box of legos is important!
