emily takes on new york city

Hello from New York City! This week I was asked to visit the New York Tabletop Show at 41 Madison. I was happy to do it because I’m always down for an excuse to visit New York, so I hopped on a plane and here I am! Yesterday I visited so many showrooms and I got to share my experience and all of my favorites on the 41 Madison Instagram account. You can check it all out here! 41 Madison is world renowned as the NY building for the tabletop industry with over 90 permanent showrooms and 200+ brands, and I got to explore everything for myself. I am having such a wonderful time!

There are so many items I saw that can really elevate your space, and so many great gift ideas as well. I want to take some time to tell you about some of my favorite brands that I saw, and there will be shoppable links to these brands!

hunt slonem

Hunt Slonem’s pop-up shop, also known as “The Hop Up Shop” displayed his collection of tabletop pieces and home decor which featured so many velvets and jewel tones. The details in his “tabletop art” were so stunning. What I love about Hunt Slonem’s art is the color and texture that he uses throughout all of his pieces. The rich kaleidoscope of colors in his palette is exactly what we love, and we felt like we could use a lot of his pieces in our design projects to bring depth to a space. I felt so lucky to be able to experience this pop-up shop!

“Inspired by nature and his 60 pet birds, Hunt Slonem is renowned for his distinct neo-expressionist style. He is best known for his series of bunnies, butterflies and tropical birds, as well as his large-scale sculptures and restorations of forgotten historic homes. Slonem’s works can be found in the permanent collections of 250 museums around the world, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Whitney, the Miro Foundation and the New Orleans Museum of Art.” -Hunt Slonem Biography

Hermés

The Hermés showroom proved that you can bring color to the dinner table in a fun and sophisticated way! All of the dynamic colors and patterns of these pieces were fabulous and showed that chinaware can be the art of the dining room. At Emily June Designs, we are all about color, luxury, and whimsy so this tabletop collection really spoke to me! The Hippomobile collection was my favorite, because the horse is such a fun graphic with all of the bold patterns creating a set for any occasion.

“For this fun and playful tea service, Gianpaolo Pagni has imagined a monochrome horse dressed in graphic friezes evoking jockeys’ silks. A horse wraps itself around a teapot, another extends across three plates, while a pattern rises from the inside of a cup... The designs combine, go together and adapt to all uses and all times of day – from breakfast to tea or a light snack.” -The Hermés Table

L’Objet

L’Objet displays such a whimsical nature with all of their designs, like with their Haas Brothers monster collection. How fun are the details on these pieces?? While L’Objet has so many fun pieces like this, they are still elevated designs that can fit into your sophisticated design. Their china patterns are so bold with their unique use of gold accents and texture, and I love it because its over the top but can still fit in with your everyday things! This brand has so many great gift ideas; their fragrance collection was amazing, I wanted all of the candles and soaps! This brand is good for the person that seemingly already has everything, because their pieces are so unlike anything else. I love the unexpectedness of L’Objet, because that’s what we’re all about at Emily June Designs!

“L’Objet creates designs for the home that are both luxurious and functional works of art, crafted with the highest degree of excellence and quality. The proprietary techniques used set L’Objet apart from all others. Every piece baring the mark of L’Objet has been touched by the hand of an artisan, many using techniques that have been passed down for generations.” -L’Objet
