gallery wall galore

While hanging artwork may appear simple and easy, there is a lot of work behind making a harmonious gallery wall. Below are just a few of our favorite ways designers have added their own artistic touch to photos and paintings to make them come to life!

tasteful television

One thing that can really elevate a living room design is to incorporate your television into your gallery wall as another piece of art! Framing your television can help it to blend in among the picture frames to create a more cohesive look for the overall gallery wall design. Mixing in unconventional pieces of art is a great way to add another layer of character to your gallery wall! For example, this design includes multiple different skate boards with different designs hanging on the wall. Using personalized items or collections as decor can really individualize your space and make it completely unique to your taste! The bright yellow star is not a framed art piece either, making the different framed paintings and artwork appear to have levels of dimension.

Overall, many pieces of artwork in this gallery wall have different shades of yellow which really make this design harmonious, matching with the throw pillows on the sofa and the other pops of yellow throughout the space! The different colored knobs on the also act to individualize this space further by adding an element of “the unexpected”.

breathtaking bedroom

Typically artwork might be hung above a bed frame but rarely do we see one that incorporates artwork inside the bed frame like this design does! When hanging photos or artwork, you must take into consideration the color of the wall and whether or not it will allow the different pieces of art to shine. These art pieces primarily consist of primary colors, which really pop against the green color of the walls! The red comforter on the bed really draws out the small bits of red within this gallery wall and allows the design to flow flawlessly. The entirety of this design embodies “banish the beige” and with all the funky color combinations, artwork, and frames this design really stands out as being one of a kind!

charming children’s room

Who says gallery walls only have to be for adults? Taking into consideration the type of space that you are creating a gallery wall for can affect the type of artwork you use. In this children’s room, the designer used more youthful art that fits in with the overall vibe of the space! Hanging art on top of wallpaper is a great way to create a more layered look in any space while also creating a more fun look!

As you design your own gallery walls, be careful to think about the type of space you want to create. Do you want your space to be playful like this one? Sophisticated? Elegant? The type of artwork you use to create your gallery walls can aid you in creating the type of atmosphere you want to have for your space!

pretty in pink

One of the most important things to take into consideration when creating your own gallery walls is how to frame your artwork! Framing your artwork and emphasizing it with different sizes of frame mats can give your artwork a completely different look. For example, this gallery wall only has a few different yellow wood frames that tie in with the color of the sofa to better highlight the use of yellow against the pink walls. Each piece that was hung also has different frame mat sizes and colors which can really let any piece of artwork speak for itself! This can change the size of your frame and can either compliment your picture or contrast to it in a way that makes it a focal point. When choosing different types of frame mats for your art, note that there are various shades of white, black, and grey that can match the tone of whatever artwork you are planning to frame. Additionally, the colors are not just limited to these neutrals but can even be pink like we see in this design! Don’t be afraid to stand out and make bold decisions when it comes to framing your favorite pieces!

modern marvel

Everyone has a different design styles that they prefer whether it be industrial, traditional, boho or anything in between! Matching the type of artwork to the style of your space can create a harmonious look for your overall design. For example, this space is more modern with an atmosphere of the city and these different pieces of artwork and the way that they are laid out on the wall further emphasize this. A more traditional design might use thicker wood framing hung in a puzzle-piece style where every frame fits together different. However, this black metal-like framing with the artwork hung side by side creates a uniform and simplistic look that makes this design appear more modern rather than traditional. Not to mention the style of the artwork consists of skyscrapers and bridges done in an art style that resembles pop art! Be sure that when you are creating your own gallery walls that you take into consideration the design style you want to create and display that through the way you organize your artwork.
