Memory Lane: Daydreaming of our Dollhouse Days
As the annual La Petite Maison Gala is approaching, we can’t help but look back at the making of our labor of love. Instead of showing off our own dollhouse this year, we will be oohing and aahing over the 8 spectacular dollhouses up for auction. This year is the third annual La Petite Maison Dollhouse Tour with all proceeds going towards Family Houston. In this weeks June Journal, we will take a trip down memory lane reminiscing on the making of the smallest Emily June design ever!
exterior
We loved the idea of painting an emerald green and lavender color combo for the exterior of the dollhouse, and this was a starting point for choosing the color palettes and overall aesthetic for the interior of the dollhouse. We tediously placed each individual shingle on the roof and carefully installed the tiny brass door hardware and lighting. These little details are what make this dollhouse a dollhome!
Exterior Paint: Benjamin Moore
artist loft
This space is one of our favorites in the house! From the small sitting area to the easel and drafting table, this artist’s loft has it all. The small blueprints and T-squares had us wishing we were a tiny architect!

primary Bathroom
We found a pink antique dollhouse bathtub that we knew we just had to use in the bathroom. The color combo in this room is bright and fresh, and the brass accents add a bit of sparkle to the space. We can’t get over how tiny the toothbrush and toothpaste are! It’s the little details that count, and the custom EJD logo towels complete the room with a personal touch.

gallery
With our dollhouse being full of beautiful art created by artists with Mont Art House, we thought it was only appropriate to create a gallery space in our dollhouse. The bibendum style chairs add a modern touch to the space, and the Porter Teleo wallpaper creates the perfect painterly backdrop for the gorgeous art. In this room we love how the wallpaper does most of the talking and creates a feeling of warmth!

ENTRY
A table for two greets you! The entry carries the color palette from the exterior into the home, and the bold pattern painted on the wood floors adds a bit of a wow factor. The stair runner was finished with tiny “brass” rods that we think was just the cutest little detail. The art above the console by Mione Plant exudes the happy energy that we had hoped for this dollhouse!

Kitchen
We wanted to create a traditional kitchen with a bit of a colorful twist, and the pink and purple color combo turned out so fun! We hung tiny plates on the wall and installed functional rattan pendant lights over the island. The brass range hood really shines in this space, and the checkered pattern painted on the wood floors adds a bold touch. And of course, our dollhouse needed lavender La Cornue CornuFé 110 Range!

Dining room
The bold black and white patterns in this space are accompanied by pops of color, and this really created a tiny moody dining room! We can’t get over how cute the baby sconces are above the fireplace flanking the artwork by Catherine Walker Studio. The antique dollhouse chandelier is really the star of the show!

LIVING ROOM
With the living room space, it was important to us to create a bold space that really shows our love for mixing pattern and color. The custom furniture created by House and Town is petite perfection, and the Phillip Jeffries grasscloth on the walls makes the perfect backdrop. The mini piano was one of our favorite pieces in the whole house, and the green drapes add such a pop to the room!

PRIMARY BEDROOM
We wanted to create a colorful retreat in the primary bedroom, and the Schumacher wallpaper was the perfect starting point for this. Creating tiny draperies for throughout the dollhouse was a fun challenge, and these turned out beautiful in the baby bay window! Once again, Mary Mack worked their magic to create a custom EJD pillow for the canopy bed. How cute is that?

dressing room
Every dollhouse needs a dressing room! We envisioned this space with lots of pink pops, and it turned out so fun. From the tiny bust statue to the mini vanity mirror, we can’t get enough of the small details in this room. A lot of the items in our dollhouse are actual vintage dollhouse pieces, and this excited us because we love mixing vintage items into our “life-sized” designs.

KIDS BEDROOM
Very early on in the dollhouse process, we found this vintage brass bunkbed and knew immediately that we had to use it! From there, we designed a kid’s bedroom/playroom full of fun patterns and little toys. This room even has its own tinier dollhouse and a mini record player! And we can’t forget to mention the incredibly fun art that Emily’s son created for above the blue dresser. He really nailed the color palette!
