a mix of everything

This is a bookcase from one of our most recent projects! It sits right at the top of our client’s staircase and is visible from downstairs which makes this bookcase a focal point of the second story, so we wanted to make it stand out!

We started by sourcing a collection of various antique books to fill the shelves, found a couple of pieces of art to display, and then selected various accessories such as decorative baskets and vases to fill in the space. Balance is key when accessorizing a bookcase, and you also want to make sure that you are not overwhelming the shelves with too many “things”.

Styling kids bookshelves is always a fun project because you can accessorize with their toys and original artwork that you may not want to use in other parts of your home! This designer combined kids books, artwork, toys, baskets and plants to style the bookshelves, and it is the perfect fun mix for a kid’s bedroom!

fun lighting

This living room features built-in bookcases along the whole back wall of the room, and the designer did an amazing job of filling up the shelves in a beautiful way! The first thing that stands out to us is the two wall sconces because it’s not often that you see them installed this way. However, since the bookcase takes up such a large amount of space they are a smart addition to the space!

make it stand out

These individual floating bookshelves are a more uniform alternative to a traditional bookcase! Since these shelves are separate from each other, it makes the accessories feel more intentional in their placements. We love the contrast of the white shelves against the red grasscloth wallpaper because it really draws your attention to the accessories!

create a bar space

For people that like to entertain guests, utilizing a part of your bookcase as a bar can be a convenient choice instead of having a bar cart or a designated bar area! We love how this designer styled the space, because it is done in a way that makes the bar area blend seamlessly into the room. Cheers!
