what’s your design style?

Everyone has their own style when it comes to interior design, but many people have a hard time describing what their style is. The options are endless when choosing a style for your space, and at Emily June Designs we love to mix different styles to create unique designs! So how do you know which design style is right for you if you are unsure? The choices can be overwhelming!

Your home should be a reflection of who you are and what you love, so don’t just follow trends that are popular, but instead incorporate things in your home that truly make you happy. If you are unsure of what direction to go with the design of your home, try looking in your closet and take inspiration from your fashion style, go outside and take inspiration from nature, or look through your music and books to see what inspires you. Everyone has their own interior design style, it’s just a matter of finding out what that means for you!

bohemian

The Bohemian design style incorporates a free-spirited aesthetic and an eclectic appearance by using a large mix of design elements. The Emily June Designs team designed this bedroom in a Bohemian style by incorporating color, pattern, and elements that represent different parts of the world!

traditional

Classic art, antiques, and historical design elements are what the Traditional design style is all about. Traditional design is influenced by the 18th and 19th centuries. This space designed by Corey Damen Jenkins is the perfect example of a traditional space with his flawless choice of art, accessories, and furniture styles!

industrial

Some of the main characteristics of the Industrial design style are exposed brick, metal elements, and sleek concrete. This design by Leanne Ford Interiors is a flawless example of this type of design with the white brick walls, black metal elements, and concrete floors and counter tops!

contemporary

The Contemporary design style is known for incorporating strong visible lines, geometric shapes, and a bit of minimalism. Contemporary designs often feature a neutral color palette with blocks of bold color, which can be seen in this bathroom design by Emily June Designs. The bold geometric tiles create the perfect focal point in this contemporary design!

southwestern

Bold colors are a characteristic of the Southwestern design style, along with tribal prints, wood accents, and rough textures. This design by Claire Thomas embodies all of the characteristics of Southwestern design, all the way up to the wood beams on the ceiling! This room is full of color, texture, and pattern, and we are obsessed!

eclectic

Eclectic design is a name for the design style that doesn’t fit neatly into one category, and can incorporate a mix of many design styles in one space! This design by Studio Shamshiri is the most beautiful example of the eclectic style, with their use of color, texture, pattern, unique accessories and art!

coastal

The Coastal design style has a beachy aesthetic and incorporates soft and clean characteristics, and an abundance of natural light. The Knickerbocker Group designed this waterfront home in Maine, and it is a prime example of coastal design, and we are obsessed with this natural light and that great view!

midcentury modern

The Midcentury Modern deign style is popular for its sleek lines, organic shapes, natural materials, and vibrant colors. Silvio Rech + Lesley Carstens designed this space that is a midcentury dream!

There are many more design styles in addition to these, but these style are some of our favorites and they are a good starting point to figure out which design style best suits you!
